The original MSRP was only $4,100.

Wow, that's clean. My first car was a 79 corolla, but a much lower model than that one (I didn't have a silver dash). It had a 1.2L pushrod 4 cylinder in it (3KC if you speak Toyota). My family bought the car new in '79 with one option. It was upgraded with a 5 speed manual (4 speed was standard). I didn't even come with a radio. Mine was a 4 door, so the front seats were different (no need to access the rear).

The car was pretty much indestructible, no matter how many things I hit it just kept going. I did blow up the transmission once, but there were plenty of replacements in the junkyard.

If I remember correctly, it was probably the last Corolla to have a Hemi in it. Yes, you heard it here, a Hemi. Unfortunately only Chrysler calls their Hemi engine a Hemi. :sing:

The 2T and 3T motors were hemi head pushrod motors. The better motors were the 2T-G and 3T-G motors. These were twin cam motors with heads by Yamaha and dual Mikuni sidedraft carbs.

Bob Kendrick used to have a 3T-G motor punched out to 2000cc in a MG Midget. Scary fast with about 180 HP. He also had this motor in a 74 Corolla.
