the e36 is sold, thanks for looking....

If all goes according to plan, I'll be in a new to me e39 wagon on Monday the 28th. Paying WAY too much, but it looks very nice and only 97k miles on the car. After an inspection at Dave's, I'll make my final decision.

That said, my '96 328 will be for sale. There's a lot of pro's and con's with this car, but I can say it's been well maintained over the time I've owned it and that started in '03. The maintenance I can't do was done by Dave Davis. Right now I'm throwing the line out and see if I get any tugs. Pricing the car at $2300 OBO.

A few line items about the car....

The decent stuff,
> 1996 328i 4 door. This has more head room than the 2 door 328is
> 243k miles
> 5 speed, new clutch at 200k
> interior is in decent shape, but needs a head liner
> currently sporting a M3 front bumper, but I also have the original front bumper cover
> includes extra H&R front sway and lowering springs
> current wheels are some Alutec AC schnitzer knock off wheels. These are very light 16" 5 spokes. Recently painted, but could use a good media blast and repaint
> tons of maintenance. Over the last 50k I've replaced the radiator, hoses, water pump, front lower control arms and bushings (powerflex), tie rod ends, clutch, precat O2 sensors, rear CAB's, head unit w/ iPod connect, valve cover gasket, new front rotors and brake pads, front right wheel bearing, oil filter hosing gasket and some other stuff.
> oil and filter religiously changed every 5k miles w/ Castrol.

The iffy stuff,
> shifter needs to be rebuilt, very sloppy right now.
> also needs the oil pan gasket replaced. Have the gasket, just haven't had the time to replace.
> drivers side window regulator is new, but needs to be adjusted. It works, but sometimes hangs on the way up.

I'll post pics up on Monday or remove this phishing thread.

If you might be interested, let me know and I'll answer any questions you might have. Back later....

That's your white one?

Interest, yes. Do I need more complicated and expensive as hell German Crap(tm), no. (And there's a black e30 convertible at the shop right now. The one Robert had at the Lemons parade back in Sept.)

If you have any e39 wagon questions, let me know as you drove one of mine awhile back. 97K is a risky mileage as it is just before many of the big ticket preventative 100k maintenance items.

That's exactly why I'm getting a pre-purchase inspection before I do anything.... Thanks Chris, I'll hit you up if I have any questions.

If you don't buy, you might want to watch this thread if you are willing to travel.

score.... The e39 purchased happened much to my surprise. This was not a planned purchase, but happy this turned out the way it did. It has some cosmetic issues, but overall this wagon is in great shape. Of course it's the ubiquitous grey over black color scheme, but it fits this touring very nicely. Big bonus that this car is sub 100k in miles, lots of life left in it. Now it's time to start chipping away at some the maintenance items and get it a little more road worthy. Looks like I now have a winter project to work on!

Needless to say I'm very happy w/ this purchase.

The 328 may be sold to my son, should know in a week or so if it will be for sale.

540? Looks clean. Here is when I had 2 in my garage at a time.

Not a 540, just a lowly 525. Its not fast and could certainly use a upgrade to the ecu. In no hurry for power adders.

Keep my in the loop if you plan an ECU upgrade. I find the initial throttle response to be slow. I'm likely not to mess with it though as it has 180K and it is the wife's car. Although she does complain that it is slow compare the the manual 528iT we used to have.

ok, after a long deliberation with my son Drew, he's going to pass on this car, so it is officially for sale. The car is in decent shape overall, but far from perfect. I've got a spread sheet of stuff that's been done to it over the years. This sale will include the Shark injector software hand held, used front H&R sway and lowering springs. This car is currently setup running an M3 suspension.

This is also the uprated 328 which has a little more umpph over the 325. This 4 door also has more head room, ergo the reason I bought it. As far as I know, this only has the premium package option.

asking $2200 or best offer for my very first BMW. I'd really like to see this stay in the club!

I'll post pics as soon as I can....
