SOLD, to Jeremy.(Price dropped to $75.00)
FS: A fairly old Harbor Freight 40x48 utility trailer, set up to carry 4 B-Stock Honda S2000 wheels, some tools, etc: $75.00.Everybody's selling tire trailers, so I guess I will too. Since I sold the car, I don't need this thing taking up space anymore. And now that Steve has shown me the way that is STR, I don't plan to change tires at an event, well, ever again. If I can help it.
Here's the good stuff:
- 12" wheels and fenders.
- This trailer first belonged to David Spratte, and I bought it from him. It's probably 10 years old. David used it only once or twice - I used it for about four years. In that time, I've had zero problems with it.
- It has a black plastic storage box on the back, and a plywood platform on the front. S2000 wheels are wide, and wouldn't fit straight across left to right, so I put on two posts of EMT conduit, and covered those with PVC. Thus, the tires stack in two stacks, vertically.
- The tires are about five years old, and I'd say they have under 5000 miles on them. So they're pretty old, but they look fine. They hold air, are black, and are round.
- I've replaced the taillights with fancy LED ones. They're brighter and more weather resistant than the crappy ones that were on the trailer originally.
- Also included is at least one spare wheel, with tire. I might have two. If I do, They both go with the trailer. You can even have one (1) 4-way lug wrench.
- I'll also throw in the locks, both for the box, and for the hitch.
Not quite ideal aspects of this trailer include:
- The title. David has it. He never titled it, so I didn't either. We went to DMV together a month or two ago to try and sort this out. It sounded like he would need to produce a bill of sale, from Harbor Freight. Naturally he has no such thing, and I don't either. Now, if what Kenny Keel says is true in his trailer for sale thread, this is not an issue, as the trailer is small enough that it doesn't need a place in NC. I dragged this thing all over the place for years without a plate, never got a second glance.
- The tires. Like I said, are several years old. You can probably replace them for pretty cheap at HF.
- The paint. It's faded. This trailer is one part of my automotive collection that I don't keep carefully waxed.
- I don't know much about how wood ages. The wood platform looks fine to me, but it does look like wood that's been outside its whole life.
- I have not repacked the wheel bearings, well, ever. I've seen no need to open them up since they work just fine.
- I don't have a receiver ball for it anymore, because I sold that with the hitch from my (now Ram's) car, months ago.
- The buyer needs to come pick it up, because my only vehicle with a hitch is going in for paint soon, so I'm taking its hitch off.
I'll take some pictures tonight if there's enough light outside. It looks exactly like a tire trailer.
