Event Chairs: Wes Eargle, David Spratte
and Scott Johnson
Proceeds from this event will benefit the V Foundation for
Cancer Research. We will be selling $5 tickets for a Saturday
50/50 raffle during registration, and will draw for the raffle
at the end of the
drivers' meeting. You must be present to win!
We will be doing 5 runs with fun runs at the end. This will
not be the same course as we will run on
Sunday for the points event!
General info:
- If this is your first event, please feel free to ask
questions!
Everybody has had a first time and this can be a little
overwhelming. There will be a novice walkthrough right before
the drivers meeting that will help things come together.
- Be alert! Drive slowly in pits and grid and watch out
for people, kids, dogs, Feinbergs and cars backing into
pit/grid spaces.
- Be alert! When you finish your runs, whoa it down and
get away from the finish line. Another driver will
be barreling through there right after you! If you have
a cone stuck under your car, pull
away from the finish area and we will help you remove it.
We are willing to risk losing a cone to avoid metal-to-metal
contact.
- No wandering, stay within the general area of the autocross.
It is tempting to look at the wrecks, but please avoid them.
Also please respect the motorcycle school riders and stay
off of their coned-off area. And at the far end, don't stray
down the embankment, there be angry spork-wielding pirates
there.
- Everyone signs the waiver form. Wear the arm band on YOUR
LEFT WRIST ONLY. Not your right wrist, belt loop or back
of your hat. The starter will want to see your arm band
during the start of the day. Without the arm band, you AND
your passenger will not be allowed to run.
- Novice passengers are NOT allowed to ride with other novice
drivers.
- You should read the "You Outta
Know About…" section on the website.
- Take your trash with you. We MUST leave a clean site
or we lose site privileges. Mr. T pities the fool who leaves
trash on a site.
- No food will be provided onsite on Saturday; however,
a Subway, Hardees and a Food Lion are right offsite. Please
see the rule above for trash maintenance, and don't be a
sucka!
Car Tech:
- Your car must have legible numbers and class letters to
be released from grid. You may download printable numbers
from the website.
- Your car must be teched BEFORE the drivers meeting.
- To pass tech, you must:
- Clean out any loose items in the car, this includes
cell phones, iPods, cables, garage door openers, loose
change and such.
- The battery must be properly secured.
- If your floor mats are not physically attached to
carpet, they will have to be removed. We don't want
the floor mat to bunch up under the brake or gas.
- Hubcaps and center caps on wheels shall be removed.
If your hubcaps mount to the wheel and are held in place
by the lug nuts, then they can stay on, otherwise they
should be removed.
- It is your responsibility to:
- Check basic fluids such as oil, coolant, and brake.
- Make sure you tighten the lug nuts to manufacturer's
recommended torque.
- Make sure you have no active leaks on the engine,
radiator, transmission or differential. Oil and coolant
on the course is a bad thing.
- Check tire pressure. If you don't know what to set
it to, ask ASAP.
- You WILL experience greater than normal tire wear.
Your tires MUST be serviceable, meaning they have appropriate
tread, no cord showing, etc.
- If you plan on running all year long with the club (and we hope that you are), now would
be a good time to have your car teched for the year.
Print out this form and bring
it to the event. This day has the potential to be busy, so have your car ready and go to the
tech area early. This is very popular during the first 3 events for the year.
