Malia Fredrickson and newly coined Old-Fart Gary Hill present
THSCC’s event #3, “You Get What You Pay For!”,
hosted at the Danville Regional Airport. Our chairs promise
a course with some cones. Placed somewhere. It might be a
little different from the Chick School the day before. But
maybe not. It might have some influence from the Evolution
school in April. But maybe not. The only thing for certain
is that we’ll be there on May 4th! Warning: Danville Airport
is an ACTIVE airport. That means many areas are off limits.
Those areas will be clearly marked, and we are NOT permitted
in any of those areas! Punishments are handed out by the local
Airport Authorities and can be quite severe.
Registration is now open from 9:00 to 9:30 AM only. If you
have pre-registered and pre-paid, you will only have to sign
a list on the outside and will not have to wait in the registration
line. Please pre-register and pre-pay!
Entry limit for this event is 120.
Entrance: We will be using the small side entrance, so look
for the usual pointer cones and Autocross Sign. The entrance
is at the base of a very steep hill, so if you have an underpowered
tow vehicle, this is your warning! Gate opens at 7:30.
Pit space will be tight, so please make the extra effort to
minimize the width of your pit area! If you have a trailer
of any type, please try to park it on the grass next to your
pit area to free up as much room as possible. The Airport
Management has given us permission to park on the grass, so
that should be a big help.
Sign the waiver! EVERYONE at the event, including visitors,
must sign the insurance waiver upon arrival and wear a wristband.
Competitors should place the arm band on YOUR LEFT WRIST ONLY;
not your right wrist, belt loop, or back of your hat. The
Starter will want to see your arm band as you pull up to the
line to make your first run. Without your arm band, neither
you NOR your passenger will be allowed to run.
Water: Bring some; no, BRING LOTS. Don't ruin a fun day driving
by getting dehydrated!!
Food: Lunch will NOT be available on site for the Sunday autocross.
Be on your best behavior! We love Danville and we get to use
it because of lots of hard work. We want to keep it available
for the club. So be sure YOU and YOUR FRIENDS are on YOUR
BEST BEHAVIOR when on the event site. This means no fast driving
anywhere but the autocross course itself. Pick up your trash
AND the trash of others.
General Info:
- Make sure you have your car properly marked and classed.
See this link if you have any questions. Camouflage and
low contrast letters/numbers will not be allowed. If you
don't have class letters and numbers that will be clearly
visible by the bus and course workers,
PRINT YOUR CLASS
LETTERS AND NUMBERS from here.
- Get to your worker station on time so we can keep this
event running
- Workers have to check in at the Work Coordinator's table
in between heats in order to get credit for your runs. If
you do not work, your times will not count, and you will
shunned for life.
Extra Info for Novices:
- Get to the site early!! You'll want to be there early
enough to:
- get your car emptied and teched, and
- get in several course walks before the Novice Meeting.
- Be at the 9:30am MANDATORY Novice Meeting on time.
- Read the info on the"Novice
Tips" page on the thscc.com website. There’s a
LOT of really good info there that answers most of the normal
questions and will get you going quickly.
Car Tech:
- Your car should be teched BEFORE the drivers meeting.
- To pass tech, you must:
- Clean out any loose items in the car, this includes cell
phones cables, garage door openers, loose change and such.
- The battery has to be properly secured.
- If your floor mats are not physically attached to carpet,
they will have to be removed. We don’t want the floor
mat to bunch up under the brake or gas.
- Hubcaps and center caps on wheels should be removed. If
your hubcaps mount to the wheel and are held in place by the
lug nuts, then they can stay on, otherwise they should be
removed.
- It is your responsibility to:
- Check basic fluids such as oil, coolant, and brake.
- Make sure you torque the lug nuts to manufacturer's recommended
tightness.
- Make sure you torque the lug nuts to manufacturer's recommended
tightness.
- Make sure you have no active leaks on the motor, tranny
or diff. Oil on the track is a bad thing.
- Check tire pressure. If you don’t know what to set
it to, ask ASAP.
- You WILL experience greater than normal tire wear. Your
tires MUST be serviceable, meaning they have appropriate tread,
no cord showing, etc.
Run Groups:
We plan to take runs in the normal 2 runs in the
morning and 2 runs in the afternoon format. Hopefully there
will be time for extra runs. We will announce which classes
run when at the event.
- Group 1 should grid cars BEFORE the driver's meeting.
- Remember to grid in lane A if you are working the
following heat.
