Event chairs Chris Peterson, Eric Peterson, and Donnie Barnes want to welcome everyone to the first ever THSCC autocross at Danville airport. They promise a
challenging course and fun for everyone!
This is a new site; so make sure to look at the map. We will not be using the main entrance to the airport; it’s a small side entrance. The
entrance is at the base of a very steep hill, so if you have an
underpowered tow vehicle, this is your warning. Choose a lower gear!
(Low range 4WD might actually be in order to save a little bit of
burning tranny fluid).
Very Important: Pit space will be
VERY tight, so please make the extra effort to minimize the width of your
pit area! If you have a trailer of any type, please try to park it on the
grass next to your pit area, so as to free up as much room as possible. The
Airport Management has given us permission to park on the grass, so that
should be a big help.
Danville Airport is an ACTIVE airport. That means some areas are off limits. Those areas will be clearly marked, and we are NOT permitted in any areas marked as off limits! Punishment for participants who go beyond the designated areas may include but are not limited to decapitation, pepper-spraying, being escorted from the site, and, in cases of extreme site-rules misconduct, being forced to read all the posts ever made on the THSCC Forums about the various classing debates and suggestions!
All the normal rules apply for this event (pit speeds, etc). Since this is our first event in Danville, the hosts will be watching us closely.
Make sure to be on your best behavior! This means you have to take your trash home, and take home someone else’s. We should leave the site cleaner than it is when we arrive!
There are plenty of fast food places near the airport, so food should be easy. Warm weather is here, so don’t forget the sunscreen and plenty
of water!
Your event chairs request that, since this is our first trip to the site, you please be patient with the logistics; a few growing pains may be encountered as we figure out how best to lay everything out for an efficient event.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday and please remember that it's up to everyone to help Tarheel make a good first impression! |
